Here are the toots from my Mastodon account. If you’re into ham radio and technology this is a great inclusive server with an awesome mascot called Alex.

It's Alex! A soft brown mastodon holding a handheld radio in their right hand and carrying a blue bag over their shoulder

Happy new year mastodonians!

📢 WSJT-X 2.5.4 was just released, with two new people stepping up to replace work done by the late G4WJS: https://sourceforge.net/p/wsjt/mailman/message/37410894/

This looks like a small bug fix release to “Repair a defect that caused occasional crashes when in QSO with stations using nonstandard callsigns.”

URLs are unchanged:

Great to see that the GQRP convention videos are out: https://www.youtube.com/c/GQRPClub/videos

I really enjoyed Charlie ZLTCTM’s and Farhan VU2ESE’s as they gave a glimpse into the processes successful homebrewers use to get things done.

📢 WSJT-X 2.5.3 was just released with a new feature for ARRL VHF contents: https://sourceforge.net/p/wsjt/mailman/message/37398008/

I was sad to read that Bill G4WJS passed away recently. I had never spoken with him but was always impressed by his patience and breadth of knowledge.

Only Win64 packages have been released so far, but URLs are the same as always:

I managed to get one of the first batch of QDX transceivers from QRP labs, and I just plugged it in for the first time. It needs some tweaks but works!

There are some odd design decisions (9V power and USB type B) but it’s cool and tiny.

A QDX in its enclosure. It’s a small black box 7x9x2.5cm in size with an LED on the front left and connectors on the back (not shown here)

A constructed QDX board with connectors on the right and various components visible, including several inductors.

A QDX circuit in an enclosure with the top panel off. There are connectors on the right and several visible components like coils and transistors.

I just discovered some morse keycaps https://prototypist.net/collections/in-stock-keycaps/products/in-stock-infinikey-morse

The “operator” kit’s caps only have morse on, which is interesting
