Here are the toots from my Mastodon account. If you’re into ham radio and technology this is a great inclusive server with an awesome mascot called Alex.

It's Alex! A soft brown mastodon holding a handheld radio in their right hand and carrying a blue bag over their shoulder

I just discovered some morse keycaps https://prototypist.net/collections/in-stock-keycaps/products/in-stock-infinikey-morse

The “operator” kit’s caps only have morse on, which is interesting

I find these development update posts really interesting https://blog.flipperzero.one/november-update/

It’s great to get a view into how real problems are solved. I’ve seen the same sort of thing on CrowdSupply 👌

I hacked a Toaster Oven into a PCB reflow machine.

Basically, I just added a cheap PID controller and a thermocouple, and it was a fun and fairly quick project!

I wrote about it here: https://hackerific.net/2021/11/13/pcb-toaster/

#electronics

A modified toaster oven. There’s a controller on the right where the dials would be. It has two temperature readouts. Inside is a small PCB. There’s a metal wire going through the door.

I managed to use the ST-LINK clone I ordered (immediately prior to ordering a J-LINK Edu Mini) to program a Blackpill board with the arduino blink example. Luckily it’s not possible to have too many ways to program chips.

Today I spent a while fighting with a “black pill” STM32 board, which must be a clone. I can’t get the thing in DFU mode and it has a weird HID bootloader and USB IDs: 0483:572A [WeAct Studio WeAct Studio HID Bootloader], but everything expects 1209:BEBA. 😕

I have now given up and ordered an ST-LINK programmer (very cheap, so also a clone ) so hopefully I’ll have more luck with that!

My friend and colleague Paul was on the FLOSS podcast: https://twit.tv/shows/floss-weekly/episodes/653?autostart=false I’ve not watched yet due to lots of power cuts and being busy but it’s probably interesting :alex_laugh:
